Ignoring the obvious ‘white boy’ sentiment surrounding the article on Autoblog.com, I’m glad to see that Ford has gone in the direction of Mrs. Jones, a.k.a. Kelis, as the persona for marketing their 2008 crossover utility vehicle (CUV) Ford Edge.

The very eclectic and talented R&B artist represents a sentiment of ‘going against the grain’ of which the Ford Edge embodies. While I’ve never been a big fan of Ford, but I can definitely say I’ve been excited about this crossover for quite some time. My joy was confirmed at last year’s Chicago Auto Show when I got to sit in it. It’s segment competitors will are likely to be the Nissan Murano, Honda CR-V, and Chevy Equinox. If you’re in the market for the perfect blend of practicality, urban appeal, and sporty design, going American isn’t looking that bad.
