While tech guy will be salivating this week over the constant updates to all of the tech-y blogs due to the CES conference in Vegas, I get to stare at the beautiful galleries piping from autoblog.com from the Detroit Auto Show. And look…surprise! Jay-Z has gotten his hands on something.
GMC, a subsidiary of General Motors (GM), has announced the ‘Jay-Z Blue’ version of the 2007 Yukon Denali complete with ‘custom’ blue paint with a sparkle of platinum dust. Yes…platinum dust. While blue isn’t my favorite color, I can’t help but feel vexed by two things:
- Good: Jay-Z and the VP of Marketing for GM are both Black, thus the ‘cool’ factor of this partnership.
- Bad: The idiots who will get in a ginormous amount of debt trying to buy another ‘Jay-Z’ branded product.
Anyways, read on.

Good: Positive Black collaboration.
Bad: Perpetuates improper prioritizing of discretionary income.
Your call: If the idea flops, the high-profile Black VP loses his job, thereby f^$#ing it up for others trying to follow in his footsteps.
Dah well, it’s still my favorite hue…
