Last night Dr. Maya Angelou read her most recent poem, “A Pledge to Rescue Our Youth” at the 15th annual “A King Celebration,” at Morehouse College. The tribute included performances by the glee clubs of Spelman and Morehouse colleges, along with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, mezzo-soprano Pamela Dillard and pianist Terrence Wilson for an evening of blues, jazz, classical music, opera and Negro spirituals. On Monday, January 15, 2007 the concert will be broadcast on Performance Today, which is produced and distributed by American Public Media, in partnership with NPR.
On Sunday, January 14: WSB-TV, Channel 2 will air a PrimeTime Special “The King Papers” at 7:00 p.m. (check your local listing).
