
kimberly posted some upcoming televsion programs about the legacy of dr. martin luther king, jr. this weekend, but i also wanted to let the readers know that cnn.com is featuring a slew of videos called “mlk: words that changed a nation”. they profile the entire legacy of dr. king, including interviews with historians, those that knew him well, and other community leaders. the series is presented by soledad o’brien.
one of the most interesting videos that i watched were the story of the ‘death papers’ dr. king carried with him during his last days. its very poignant and quotes ghandi about the perception of life and death. they also reveal one of his future sermons, quoting:
“the major problem of life is learning how to handle the costly interruptions. the door that slams shut. the plan that got side-tracked. the marriage that failed. or the beautiful poem that never was written because someone knocked on the door.”
