chicago bears win! nfc champions! indianapolis colts squeak by…afc champions. not withstanding my inferred bias to my beloved chicago bears franchise, yesterday’s conference games were outstanding. in addition to the bears returning to the super bowl since 1985 and the colts finally shaking ‘the patriots’ monkey off their back, history was made. lovie smith, coach of the bears, became the first black coach to take a team to the super bowl.
tony dungy, only because of time of schedule, joined him in that honor, thus cementing that february 4th will befittingly see its first black coach champion…of the world….forever…during black history month.
