tech news 1/24: “two claps for mike tomlin” edition
2007 is shaping up to be an exciting year. clinton vs. obama. lovie vs. dungy. apple iphone. losing weight with wii. all before black history month!
well, keeping along those lines, the pittsburgh steelers recently announced the hiring of mike tomlin, a young 34 year-old, former minnesota defensive coordinator as head coach. not only is this a definitive (read: monumental) step for black coaches, jemele hill has a great editorial on its significance for the NFL and how it may have the ‘Tiger’ effect in other leagues.
microsoft has announced that the advertising face of windows vista, the anticipated follow-up operating system to XP, is….lebron james?!? wow, definitely didn’t see this one coming.
techeblog has a neat article (with video) about the top 5 home projects ever made. including a ‘hideaway bowling alley’, flight simulator, and (possibly the most ridiculous) fully-featured star trek home. man, that last guy is pretty lame…and not even because its a star trek home (because star trek is AWESOME). mainly because he actually destroyed his credit after a breakup doing it.
