web development for beginners
following up on my post about learning to program, i learned from digg today that microsoft has released a set tiered tutorials aimed at the beginner in the areas of web development and windows development.
while i will be the first to tell you that i hated programming when i first was exposed to it, i can honestly say that it sets me apart in my current job as an IT consultant. while many of my colleagues struggle with understanding how our software works outside of the silo of applications their team supports, having a little bit of programming acumen provides confidence in many troubleshooting situations. i can honestly say that in 95% of circumstances, being able to swallow parts of what of is going on in the code is due to my web development and web programming background.
as we move forward in this new millennium with our cars parking themselves, computers moderating our home temperature, and the internet becoming more valuable to people than television and radio, black people cannot sit idly by and pretend that understanding a small snippet of these technologies is not important.
you now do not have anymore excuses. get out of the ‘wow that is magical’ web page age and learn something. do not let this golden opportunity of free information be the story you tell your grandchildren that you ‘wish you had done’ a long time ago.

This is great. Once upon a time, I knew how to creat basic web sites (and cute little programs). Unfortunately, I didn’t keep up with it and because technology changes so quickly, I don’t understand codes, tags, etc. anymore. This will help me get back into it.
