preventing jet lag
my daily perusing of my feeds came across something at lifehacker where they do an ‘throwback sentiment’ highlighting posts that were written a year ago on the site. while we’ve emulated a few of those sentiments here at ybpguide, the reality is that it helps readers who may have missed some good information.
one of lifehacker’s throwback posts was about minimizing the effects of jet lag.
while we’ve always encouraged young black professionals to travel and explore this vast planet, the side effects of jet lag are real and can be quite draining. british airways has an article detailing what a ‘body clock’ or circadian clock is and how it works.
they also have a cool jet lag calculator that let’s you input your normal wake-up time, your current time, and your home time. the output yields suggested times over the next couple of days to avoid and immerse yourself in light. the concept is that light dictates your body clock and by manipulating this exposure, you can minimize the effects of jet lag.
