obama: “you don’t run for second”
i’ve had a few conversations with friends about the history our lifetime has already seen the last few years. on the topic of obama running for president, some initial reactions suggested that he’d be better suited as a v.p.
while i can’t argue that a clinton/obama ticket would be awesome, obama will be clarifying that statement on david letterman tonight. via msnbc, obama poignantly states:
You don’t run for second. I don’t believe in that.
well put! who ever went after something with conviction and vigor only to be satisfied with the number 2 position? no backup quarterbacks!
first he was an unknown, then an underdog. $25 million later, he’s answered the question on a lot of people’s minds and will continue to knife his way through the pokes and prodding unlike anything we’ve seen.
i think most inspiring to me as a ybp is that you never count yourself out. have faith that those that love you will give you the strength to fulfill your purpose in life. besides, there are plenty of naysayers in this world already.
obama ‘08.
also, i’m still in london. if someone could youtube the letterman appearance, that’d be great!
[update 1]: found it! get it while the youtube goodness is hot!

Great Post! I think Obama has them running scared in Washington, D.C. they did not expect him to get that type of support. It goes to show that ALL people are ready for a change. Even if you take the war out of the equation there are alot of issues that needs to be address. I can’t wait until this election gets going and we see Obama out there gaining support

No one dreams of growing up and being Vice-President. Vice-President is settling for second best and hoping that you will slide into the number one spot one day.

2nd is just the first loser or the person that wasn’t good enough for 1st. Obama, deserves to be president and he shouldn’t and wouldn’t just settle for the second best. Either go for it all or don’t go at all.

I hope that whomever ends up winning the primary, that the other candidate joins them as V.P.
Democrats have a strong field this time around, and I see them both as having unique qualities to offer.
Hard to choose just one, so I have my fingers crossed in favor of a team-up one way or another.

After last night’s conversation I am beginning to understand a bit better why you believe he will become president.
