why: quoting from the chicagotribune:
The premier debate in South Carolina — scene of the first Southern primary election. — is more than a test of which Democrat can prove viable in the Old South. In a state where African-Americans could account for more than half of the voters in the Democratic presidential primary in January – where the old Confederate flag flying on state Capitol grounds remains a controversy today – this is a contest for the allegiance of a core party constituency nationally.

props to south carolina state, a hbcu, for hosting such a prestigious event!

Do either Clinton or Obama have a real chance here in SC? I think not. As an African American I am watching so many of my friends jump on the “Oh finally we got a brotha running for prez” bandwagon. Obama is not going to be a cure all just because he’s an A-A. I feel as though SC will remain a red state for ‘08.
