tech news 5/2: “updates to ybpguide” edition
in this edition of tech news, i wanted to highlight some of the website enhancements that we have made so that all of our readers, including those who read our posts through email, can enjoy the site to its full potential.
first up is the new menu at the top of the page. in an effort to make it easier for users to navigate the different pages of the site, we put the menu at the top instead of on the sidebar.

a cool feature you’ll notice in the menu is the ’stumble’ link. this mimics the functionality of the popular application stumbleupon that i wrote about awhile back. it basically serves up a random page within ybpguide allowing you to ’stumble’ across a classic post that you might have missed.
you’ll notice on the right-hand sidebar that we’ve added a ‘featured’ section. we like to highlight some of the older posts that provide extremely useful tidbits of knowledge for young black professional. we’ll probably change those every few weeks to highlight different articles, but we also included a nice graphic highlighting our ‘minus one. plus one‘ post. be sure to add to the discussion and comment!

in our ’save the world’ section in the right sidebar, we’ve also added eco-friendly tips from a cool website called ideal bite. the effects of global warming and different causes that are highlighting what we can do to curb it was written by kimberly awhile back as well. be sure to try some of those tips!
last but not least is our creative commons icon. it basically is there to let readers know that if they want to reproduce some of the content on this site, by all means do so! we simply ask that you link back to us as the originating source. after all, it’s one of the staples of the free and open-source community!
