joost invites available
what’s up!
sorry for the late thursday post. i’m sure many of you are gearing up for the weekend. i know i can’t wait!
anyways, i got invited as a beta tester for a new online media service called joost awhile back. it was invented by the same swedish guys who invented skype and kazaa. think of it as a more polished version of youtube with a desktop application that lets you watch high quality shows fullscreen.
so far, i really like the application. it doesn’t bog down my machine despite the fact that i only have 32mb of video memory on this machine AND the channel selection interface is pretty slick.
they’ve recently been in the news because viacom and cbs have signed content deals with them. if you didn’t know, viacom owns mtv, bet, and comedy central while cbs produces hit shows like csi:miami. while joost isn’t quite on the newest shows or episodes, you can catch some goodies from mtv like the show two-a-days or original programming like interviews with angels and airwaves (don’t fake on ‘em).
more info about joost can be found at wikipedia.
anyways, joost has finally opened up their beta testing to allow current users to invite as many people as they want similar to how gmail first rolled out.
if you want to check it out, put your name and email in the comments. to reduce spam, format your email like ybpguide at gmail dot com.
