tech news 5/16: “we’re back!” edition
i know, i know. shame on me for waiting so long to actually hit you guys with tech news knowledge. i can see that the last official ‘tech news’ post was may 2nd.
but i have a good reason!
well, no i don’t really.
to make up for it, i wanted to unofficially call this post ‘the hacker’ edition and hit you guys up with some great links that i use to learn how to hack. but before that, let’s clarify what ‘hacking’ is.
quite simply put, hacking is just taking something that ordinarily does one thing and make it do something else. i’m sure you’re thinking, ‘wow, i do that all the time!’ in fact, black people have been known to creatively exercise every option in any circumstance and most times invent something completely new! i could make a case for chittlins (intestines aren’t meant to be eaten), hip-hop and scratchin’ (spoken word to record needle scratch rhythms), and lipgloss (not supposed to be song). well, maybe the last one is a stretch, but you get what i’m saying.
in the tech world, the concept is the same, but the application of what is being hacked is different. below are my top seven hacker links.
- old ipod hack : how to get music off of your ipod (via engadget)
- movies/tv hack : how to watch tv shows and movies for free on your pc (via ybp)
- mp3 player hack : how to make your own mp3 player (via engadget)
- dvr hack : how to make your own dvr (via lifehacker)
