ybp, do it for the kids

ronald herd II artwork young black professional guidewe were all there at one point of time. we all remember it well. high school. what we may not remember is an abundance of ybp’s reaching out to us to recommend colleges, let us know about upcoming scholarships or summer programs, and giving us helpful advice on college applications. well, one young brotha aims to change that.

one of my alumni brethren, ron herd II a.k.a. the artivist (an actual word according to wikipedia), has created a neat little blog aimed at the future young black professionals. as described on his site, ctherd.blogspot.com aims

“to prepare students and their parents for college success in areas of academic readiness, community service, internships, summer programs, etc. The blog is to be used as a preparation infrastructure on various areas of college topics. The audience is high school students, parents, under-graduates and graduates students.”

he has highlighted a few upcoming scholarships in his recent posts including

hat tip to ron and all the work he’s been doing since i’ve known him. i haven’t supported him as much as i should have, but i’ve always been an admirer. his music, his art, his “artivisism”.

the site is also cross-syndicated at rsspect.org. check it out!

updated 6.8: i received an email from ron clarifying a few things.

The College Preparation and Planning site is actually my mom’s (Ms. Callie Herd) baby, but I serve as her “academic motivation advisor”… She was even written up by the famous Stanley Crouch of NY Daily News back in September of last year. However, please do promote my internet radio show Tha Artivist Presents…W.E. A.L.L. B.E. Radio.
