crush on obama
the weekend is almost here, so i figured i’d help push it along by sharing the most random video.
slowly circulating around the internet is a new youtube sensation by the self-claimed ‘obama girl’ who is sure to make ‘B’ chuckle and blush, while michelle may just throw a shoe.
while i won’t deny the somewhat genius of this godaddy.com-esque marketing campaign, it still ranks up there with the rest of the other wtf videos i’ve seen.
if you listen to the song or watch the video more than once, it’s instantly going to get stuck in your head. if you’re watching it from the office, most of it is safe for work. i’d give it a 6 on the racy scale.
check out the original obama girl site.
be to the ay to the are-ay-see-kay obeee-ay-em-ay.
wow!
enjoy the video below!

Mrs. Obama has nothing to worry about. It’s a cool and catchy song!
Comment by Dame on 14 June 2007:
I’ll want her on my campaign trail…lol

I Love the song and I was rockin out to it! That was so funny and catchy! This gets posted on my blog, emailed, and put on Facebook today! I don’t even mind that the girl has a great body and makes me look like crap

He is being Harold Ford-ed. I got $100 bucks that says this was financed by one of his opponents. It trivializes his campaign.
I think this is a trojan horse.

Lord Lord Lord…

I think it’s “cute.” I hope it doesn’t hurt “B.” LOL…
On CNN, I just watched this model, and the three people who actually created the song/video, and the female who actually sang the song, and they make comedy videos, promoting their website, http://www.barelypolitical.com/. From this video, since it is on all of the local news stations here in DC, it looks like they are on the right path of that promotion, lol.
Interesting.

I read that this video was made by the same people who did the “My Box In A Box” video in response to the Saturday Night Live skit “Dick In A Box”. The actresses lip synch to the same singer, Leah Kauffman. It seems harmless to me.

GEM and I are seeing eye to eye.

I don’t happen to like it, but what are we going to do about it?
I don’t think Obama can do anything about it, but let it play itself out.
I’ve said from the beginning that his entire campaign is a Racial Rorschach Test, and this is part of it.
Black candidate as Mandigo - come on, you knew it was coming.
He’s always running the two campaigns. And, every issue that’s perceived negately as related to Blacks is going to come up.
Race is really what his opponents have; and I’ve long thought that they will rival D.W. Griffith in their attempts to remind people that HE’S BLACK.
Him being the Black Bogeyman is all that they’ve come up with, so far.
We better buck up, because we haven’t seen anything yet. The more this campaign goes on; the uglier and more racial it will become, IMO.
It’s the one characteristic that can’t be gotten around; it is what it is, and nobody else will have stuff like this, because they aren’t Black.
I don’t know how you fight it, except for to point it out when it happens and get it out there.
Comment by GEM on 16 June 2007:
I agree we have to let it run its course, but I think that the folks in the editorial suites in this country should use their critical thinking caps.
I am not a conspiracy theorist or a prude, BUT, it never occurred to CNN and ABC, the possible racial undertones associated with this video?
That is all I am saying. As someone born and raised in the south, this is not harmless. That might not have been the creator’s intentions, but it’s not inconsequential either.
What About Our Daughters
Comment by cynthia on 16 June 2007:
The difference here is that Harold Ford is a single man that is well known for his preference for vanilla ice cream, whereas Obama is a married man who loves his Black family.
I think when people are looking at this video, they will remember how Obama and he does this all the time, praises his beautiful wife and tells the world, he is the lucky one because his children are so beautiful because his wife have the better genes; I believe people will remember this for what it is - a silly little prank.
Comment by GEM on 16 June 2007:
Okay cynthia. We’ll see. I think it trivializes his candidacy. I am not a supporter of any of the candidates at this point, this just irked me for some reason.

I also agree with Cynthia. I’m not saying that this might not have a negative effect, but Obama is not in the exact same situation as Ford.
Comment by rey on 18 June 2007:
i think the video was funny and creative. I don’t think it will any negative effects on Obama’s campaign. The person singing was just trying to get her 15minutes of fame…
