“transformers is awesome. that is all” edition : tech news 7/5

i hope everyone had a fun and blessed holiday. it kind of sucks that it is in the middle of the week, but i guess one day off is better than no days off. random, i know.

today’s version of tech news is representative of the ‘randomness’ theme. lots of unrelated links and info for you guys today, so enjoy.

below is a snapshot of our june statistics based on tracked readers per day.

our goal is to at least surpass the 10,000 views and 5,000 visitors per month mark. you can see from the image to the right that we did pretty good and our traffic was boosted by an additional audience from my ‘iphone alternatives’ post. i probably should have submitted that one to digg, but alas. i’m hoping that july keeps us consistent and i know our strong reader base will help us get there. i’m still trying to figure out how to push us into the ‘1,000 views per day’ range. if you have any ideas, let us know in the comments. as long as our content is quality, i think we’ll be ok. i was perusing through old tech news posts and found this goodie. an excellent utility i use to clean and speed up my pc is a free application called crap cleaner. it can fix missing dll’s, delete entries in the startup configuration so your pc boots up faster, and even encrypt deleted files from the recycling bin. remember, that nothing is ever ‘deleted’ on a hard drive. it is simply moved to a new place. this means that unless the deletion was encrypted, someone can get your old documents. check out this free, auto-updating, secure deletion application. last but not least is a fun little web program i found regarding the simpsons. head on over to the simpsons movie website and just like with south park, you can create your own simpsons avatar. if you’re a super nerd like me, you know how cool this is. usually people who get immortalized on the show are famous. now, you can create your own neat character and show it to all of your friends. pretty sweet. mmmmm….sweet.
