Hi! I found you on MyBlogLog, and I'm glad I did. What an interesting site. I'll definitely be back, and I'll be subscribing too. You definitlely gave me some food for thought as far as trees go. One thing you didn't mention was the flammability of live trees.

I didn't know that fake trees were so dangerous though. I have a toddler, so I am very concerned about lead AND pesticides AND fire. So, I'll be looking for an organic/pesticide free live tree, and we'll unplug the lights most of the time to prevent fires.

If you get a chance, join my Crayon Writer community on MyBlogLog, and check out my blog itself. Keep up the good work!

I support going with the live tree. In addition to christmas tree recycling centers some florists will accept portions of the tree for use. Also, try different ways you can recycle it yourself from kwanzaa wreathes, potpourri, and garden food, pond habitat, or for kindling the fireplace.

Many communities have free drop-off or pick-up programs for recycling your trees. http://www.earth911.org/master.asp?s=misc&a=misc/xmas/treecycle.html
(cut and paste) has a directory of state and city web pages with recycling programs, as well as fun Christmas tree facts and printable ornaments for those looking for some conscious ornamentation. Tis' the season!
