Young Black Professional Guide I’m Going (going) Back (back) to ….. Mexi?
Is the Back to Africa movement going brown?

“It’s a common scene this time of year: streams of overloaded cars, pickups and vans with U.S. license plates crossing into Mexico for the holidays …

But this year, the holiday travelers are being joined by scores of families such as Jorge and Liliana Franco, who are driving to Mexico not to visit but to stay - permanently.”

No, not really. The two different reverse migrations are quite different.

But this recent trend might increase as the U.S. continues to refuse to make up its mind about how it feels about illegal immigrants. Read more here.

I wonder what affect could this have on blacks? Hispanics replaced Blacks as the largest group of color not too long ago. If blacks once again become the majority “minority,” what affect will that have on the economy, politics and other issues that have catapulted Hispanics to the forefront of newspapers?

  1. That is really funny, “The majority Minority” and what is more funny is that we will fight to the death for that title. The government is broken and regardless if they come up with a solution or not its not gonna be to the benefit of the people. Illegal immigrants (at most) make up a small percentage of the working class and even then they only (usually) occupy the positions that no one else finds desirable, including blacks. One day we will get over ourselves and band together with our Latino brothers and sisters to fight for the common cause of injustice. But until then Feliz Navidad, right?
