Stuff Everybody Likes: Ending World Hunger and Free Rice
April 16th, 2008 Garry Bevel · No Comments
How can you impress people with your words at dinner parties and help end World Hunger? Easy: Freerice.com.
Log on and for every word you get right (match word with its definition), 20 grains of rice is donated through the UN World Food Program. The goal is to help end world hunger. So, while watching T.V., listening to tunes or passing time before bed you can feed the world’s starving and look smart doing it. No more compunction (remorse) about the plight of the poor. Do not be beset (harassed) by claims you are an out-of-touch yahoo (bumpkin) or not munificent (generous). With all due celerity (quickness), be signally (notably) involved in the propitiatory (pleasing) advancement of good, impressing swains (boyfriends/lovers) and colleagues alike with your charity and epistemic (knowledge-related) hegemony (brilliance). (Words preceding parentheticals note words learned in the last 10 minutes).
So far my best vocab level is 42, and I have donated 4640 grains of rice. Yes, I am challenging you. Catch me (on the way to feeding people in need) if you can!!!
