30+ Things to Do This Summer
Do you remember your New Year’s resolutions? You know, that time wherever everyone is tripping over themselves to exclaim how this year is going to be different because of all the game-changing strides they hope to make?
Was that you? Yeah, it was me too.
Well, let’s not make excuses and (1) revisit that New Year’s resolution list. The days are getting so nice, exercising could probably be checked off with (2) joining a local pool membership, (3) going for a bike-ride on the weekends, (4) taking a walk along a nature trail, or even (5) exploring your local city’s wonders at a brisk walking pace.
Was exercise not the only thing on your list? Well, how about (6) taking in a concert? There seems to be a ton of stuff going on nowadays, so whether you decide to (7) take up a genre of music or (8) go exploring for independent artists, you’re sure to find something. If you get stuck, you could (9) reach out to some old friends or (10) make new ones at popular hangouts and try out some of their favorite music.
Sometimes, the warm summer air asks us to (11) reflect on our blessings a little more. The weather is nice and (12) volunteering at local YMCA or (13) Big Brothers, Big Sisters program allows us to give back. Who knows, you may show (14) some excited youths the rules of baseball, or (15) basketball out on the summer courts. My all-time favorite, however, is (16) getting the people together to play some wiffle ball. Nothing like pretending your in a big league stadium and cracking one over the neighbors fence.
(17) Hitting up a beach has always been a favorite past-time as well. From (18) getting a nice tan to (19) reading a new novel to (20) trying out water-skiing, the beach holds many treasures. Don’t forget your sunscreen!
With all the college kids out of school, the nighttime brings just as much excitement. Almost every city has their run-of-the-mill club nights, so you may be drawn to (21) check out a reggae bar, (22) hookah lounge, or (23) all-night jazz spot. While I’d never suggest that your partying days are over, (24) finding fun at a international pub or (25) nightly beer garden festival shows a new level of sophistication for today’s YBP palette.
In the end, don’t forget about your family. (26) Get long lost friends and relatives together for a bbq and bust out the ol’ (27) bid whist game or (28) spades. (29) Teach the next generation a thing or two about ‘gracefully losing’ in a game of dominoes, but always remember, their day will come too. Keep the grandparents’ happy with a visit and (30) challenge the boomers to a game of chess.
Enjoy your summer!
