I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday season. I know I said in my last post that I would write about ab training some more, but I have to write about this topic.
Oprah, on her show and in her magazine, has said that she fell off the weight wagon once again. This has gotten a lot of people talking. I can’t tell you how many people at the gym and in the stores are talking about her weight. I also can’t tell you how many people are wondering how they can lose weight and keep it off, especially if Oprah, who has a seemingly unlimited supply of money and access to the best trainers and chefs, still battles with her weight.
This just shows that the excuses that people give for not exercising or living a healthy lifestyle are just that, excuses. Money shouldn’t be what’s holding you back from changing your life. Like I said in my first post, walking, running, and bodyweight exercises are all free. It doesn’t cost anything to put on some shoes, open your door, and go for a nice, brisk walk everyday. You don’t need a gym membership or an expensive personal trainer to live a healthy lifestyle.
Living a healthy lifestyle is as much mental as it is physical, maybe even more. People don’t realize how much they sabotage their own efforts to lose weight and get fit by not changing their mentality. How can you make a significant behavior change without first changing your mentality? You can be your biggest obstacle, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Being fit is not about money, or having the best personal trainer or chef at your disposal. It’s about changing your relationship with food, how you deal with stress, and finding ways to fit exercise into your daily routine. This is what Oprah’s personal journey with weight control has taught us.
Next time I’ll write more about ab training…

I'm good on the exercise bit, but one thing I could use is a website that can recommend inexpensive and quick healthy meals either from restaurants or grocery stores. Know of anything like that? I'm lazy when it comes to thinking about what I'm going to eat and I usually don't even plan out my meals even one day in advance. I need a list of 20 to 30 quick, healthy options.

I sure pray that you spend as much time exercising your spiritual life as you do your waistline and you abs.
Having a positive spirit life is important to keeping yourself fit mentally, physically and emotionally.
I see people spend so much time working out and trying to keep their waste lines from getting any bigger.
But, there hearts are so cold and their minds are so weak. I'm not talking about having book smarts either.
I'm talking about reaching out in love. That is the main key to a sound life. If your spirit isn't right, it doesn't matter what you look like on the outside. Be blessed young sister.

Thanks for your comment writingmomma. I do spend a lot of time on my spiritual self, and I was lucky to have realized the importance of being a loving soul as a child, thanks to my parents. My mom especially taught me to love everyone and to do things unselfishly, like Jesus and Buddha. That's one of the reasons why I write about health without getting monetary compensation or rewards; I find peace in knowing I have helped someone change their lives for the better.

for me, living a healthy lifestyle, working out, eating well, getting good sleep is a part of my spiritual walk. my spiritual self may not be as strong and nourished as it could be if my blood pressure, cholesterol, BMI, and heart rate aren't on point. the body is a temple, and it appreciates routine maintenance. thanks, J!

If Oprah, cant do it, then there are still others who can, so you can still do it.

it's not so much the cost of things (exercise, food, etc.) that shocks me about Oprah falling off the wagon–it's that seems to be this self-actualized, self aware person who is doing what she wants to and calling her own shots in her life. Is there a void somewhere that food is filling for her?

Writing a dissertation proposal is, in my opinion, the hardest part of the dissertation process. In Education, where few students are working closely with an established research project led by a faculty member, the student is developing a dissertation topic on their own.
