The National Urban League Centennial Conference shatters the one-size-fits-all mold of average conventions offering two specialized summits, in addition to the main conference, with their Young Professional’s Summit and Youth Leadership Summit.
The Centennial Young Professional’s Summit is also housed within the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC with the main conference. Events featured include workshops, luncheons, social events, a career fair and countless other enriching activities. The summit aims to inspire YBP professionals arming them with additional tools and professional development to succeed in their individual careers and communities.
The 2010 YP Summit Luncheon speaker will be political strategist and television commentator, Jamal Simmons and registration fees are $410 for chapter members and $425 for non-members.
The National Urban League Youth Summit is a 21-year-old conference uniting 400 youth from various affiliate programs. The annual conference is the pinnacle event for all National Urban League Education and Youth Development programs and seeks to reinforce and reestablish the standards and goals instilled through their affiliated programs, which cater to middle and high school age students.
The summit held on the University of Maryland campus, spans four days introducing its participants to a college environment. The program has an educational and developmental focus and looks to provide young people with the skills they will need to be successful in college, their career, and life.
Young summit attendees receive a taste of college life while learning pertinent leadership skills in a structured setting. Events include a day of service, workshops, a college fair, and many more tool-building activities. Conference registration is $500 and includes all food, lodging, and activities.
