About

Welcome to the Young Black Professional (YBP) Guide.

YBP Guide is a forum of multiple perspectives and advice to support the many challenges that Young Black Professionals face. Our mission is to empower African-Americans, and all people of color, with the knowledge and inspiration to foster progression and productivity in the community.

YBP Guide was started by Kimberly Michelle and Fredric in October 2006. While they are the editors of the Young Black Professional Guide, many of their peers often contribute articles.

The concept of the blog came while vacationing in Miami. A conversation was eventually sparked about resources that enable young African-Americans in the web 2.0 space. While many books exist about relationships, technology, productivity, and self-empowerment, it is important to bridge these mediums into the web 2.0 world. Originally located on the blogger domain, the Young Black Professional Guide moved to its own domain in February 2007.
