Today was the most amazing event of our life time. So many people have fought and died for this moment. Unfortunately, some of those people are not here to witness it. Today, we saw our 44th President be sworn into office. Let me not state the obvious, because we all know that part. What is truly amazing is that our world has changed right before our eyes. Consider this thought, we went from hip hop to the white house.

Living in the New World

Now, many people have stated this in different ways, but the truth of it is that more young people voted in this election than in any other. This caused a shift in the overall image of the African American male. No longer is our predominant image one of “hoodness”. Now, the primary image is that of the leader of the free world. So now comes the time for restoration. The restoration of excellence and family values. The restoration of the realistic thought that anything is possible.

As I witnessed President Obama’s Inaugural address, I could not help but pay careful attention to his message. What this writer got from it was that anything is possible if you believe and do the right things. This is a place where the only person who can stop you is yourself. Any “boundary” can be moved, obstacles can be broken. But, nothing can stop that burning desire for what you believe in.

I am excited about the “New World”. This is a much different world than the one in which I grew up in the 1970s. I am proud to bare witness to the beginning of this “New World’, and fully prepared to do my part to ensure its success.

God Bless the United States of America.

Quick post, ladies and gents.

Following up on the announcement of the 2009 Inauguration Roadtrip, I found out, via @baratunde, an article posted over at TechCrunch that startup AirBedandBreakfast.com released CrashTheInauguration.com.

As the title suggests, it’s a way for people who weren’t quick with the dial reserving hotels in the D.C. area to partner up with someone who is offering some living space. While attending the inauguration is free, the service currently has about 2,000 rooms available.

That number will surely decrease sharply as TC is also reporting that CNN is planning to do a special on the service later today.

Thanks @baratunde!

An old friend of mine is organizing an effort that will allow Americans to witness history at Barack Obama’s Inauguration by providing transportation from several cities across the United States to Washington D.C.

An obvious unprecedented moment in U.S. history, you can reserve a spot on a chartered motor coach bus for a low price, which is refundable in the event Obama does not win the November election. The service will provide transportation for Obama supporters in Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Philly, Miami, New York, St. Louis, and Detroit.
